2022.. I'm happy to announce a new opportunity.. I've accepted a NEW JOB.. I know, I know I just 'started' one in September.. but you know something.. I'm really excited & with my current college studies in Business Management; this is with a company that I can build & grow my career (as long as it lasts, let's face it I am in my early 50's!) while getting paid what I feel my accomplishments and strengths are, as well as doing something I love! (Quickbooks!)
I am going to be the Office Administrator/Bookkeeper for a local company and I started yesterday for a few hours.
Leaving the Town of Fairhaven after 5 years full-time was something I had to do for my own Mental Health. And not getting the support I needed from management and our union, I had to leave. I went to another municipality and was welcomed with open arms and tons of support. Worked in a small building with eight other staff members who were fixing each other's crowns, not criticizing they they may be crooked! It was a well balanced job with an undertaking of another part-time job (I'm still working at), a family owned business who really let their employees "do their job" without standing over their shoulders. I will still be with them as well. So leaving my 2nd Municipality is certainly bittersweet as it really is a great bunch of people to work for.
However, I think I really enjoy working for 'family businesses'.. it's a feeling of support, encouragement and paying you for what you can offer to them as well as what for your strengths. The other thing I notice with family businesses is they are VERY appreciative.
This company will allow me to be more independent and help them with their business needs. I'm very excited. Like a child at Christmas!!
I 100% believe that when you have a POSITIVE attitude .. and really put that forth in LIFE (no matter what your past is.. and we all have one.. some worse than others).. it'll come back to you ten-fold. Life is hard, for sure! But stay positive and let the NEW Opportunities come through for you!!
