My word for 2020 (& entering my 50th year of life) is the word: Intentional. I want to make sure I'm living, doing things, participating, volunteering, just even 'being' as "intentional" as I can. I want to have meaning in what I'm doing.. and tonight I really think I'm also being intentional with my finances & I'm really happy about that!!
My budget gals & I held a 'zoom' meeting on budgeting.. we did this first back in February about our new year/new finance year.. (you can watch it on youtube under "Get Personal with Pattie"..). and as soon as I figure out the recording of this zoom meeting, I will certainly post it.
We have Amanda who's in her mid 20's, Pamela - 40's, and myself - 50. So definitely a wide range of experience, college & work avenues. The three of us have great budgeting ideas and different goals/objectives about our money, but our common thread is most definitely being "intentional" with our money.. It was a great hour.. very inspirational.
In four months, one of our members have paid off an extra $3,000 in school debt & a car loan; one has money to pay off a high tax bill & I have paid off a $1,500 credit card bill. We have savings, and our monthly bills are paid to current.
Certainly in these time of a pandemic, there are alot of 'unforseens' happening.. and I feel for the people who are now without a job and waiting on unemployment - as you wait for your stimulus check or wonder how you are going to move ahead - remember 'this too shall pass'.. In my household it's not the money that stresses me out, since we are both working.. but we have other stresses (our daughter falling behind, when she was moving forward).. everything will be okay.. and 'this too shall pass'.
My advice to you is.. do what you need to do with your stimulus check.. pay the rent, buy extra food.. save a little.. just whatever you do..be intentional with it.
