Micro Preemie..

Writer's picture: Pattie PPattie P

Meet my curious 8 year old.. here she is at her best in a ball pit. Grace is a fun-loving, curious and adaptable 8 year old. She is strong. She came into this world as a 1 lb. 12 oz micro preemie. She was 18" long, along with her brother Maxwell (whom we lost at 4 days old). Grace was my "baby A" and the experience of having babies in the NICU (in a different state than our 'home), and having a baby pass.. and then living in the NICU for 125 days..is the first of how I became who I am today. It's not an experience that I would like to repeat nor wish on others..but it is what framed me as a person. I could be bitter about losing my child, I could be angry and say 'life's not fair'.. but honestly where would they get me. She is my world, my hero. And there's more to write about her, and I will.

I want to encourage mothers who may be having a NICU experience to hold on.. be faithful & be thankful. It's definitely not easy..but in a few years, you too will say 'this too shall pass'.

I kept a blog post about my birth experiences.. it was very real & raw emotions in the first few months.. check it out at www.babyblueberries.blogspot.com - no need to go over it again. Read at your leisure.
