It's been a YEAR - actually it was June 27th, but I just got my yearly bloodwork done & my one year post surgery completed this week! Sure, I've lost weight with the #WLS #gastricsleeve - I've lost 60lbs to date. I'm happy - I feel great. I can cross my legs for a long period of time, I can get on the floor and play with Grace. I can climb up/down stairs without feeling winded. I am in a size 18/20 pants & shirt, coming from 24/26. I just feel overall healthy! Am I 100% happy with the # on the Scale - no.. but it's not all about that, right?
I feel great.. and the proof is in my bloodwork - all my test results came back wonderful. My A1C went from a 7.8 when I started this journey, to currently at a 5.8. Last year was the first year that I even started talking to my doctor about #weightlosssurgery, I, like many that have this surgery, wishes I had started talking about it 5-10 years ago. But what matters is that I did it and I feel healthier. I'm moving forward.
It's not a one stop surgery - it's certainly every day thinking about what I'm feeding my body. My typical day is coffee at 5:30 a.m. (im an early riser); then eggs or a smoothie at 8:30, typically lunch is a salad with protein, I do have to have an afternoon snack - hummus with cucumbers, or pork rinds & then dinner, I try to stick with protein and vegetables. I do need to kick up my water intake, especially when I'm home.. and I need to kick up my walking regimen.
This week's goal was 3x's a week - I'm at 2.. today is friday.. so I'll shoot for a walk later. Next week I'll stick with 3x's goal .. and increase it slowly. I'm certainly a work in progress.
The thing that I have figured out.. is although the scale is closer to weighing 200 lbs, than where I started at nearly 300 lbs, I am 100% feeling healthier.. and probably by doing the surgery gained many more years to my life.. I look in the mirror and sometimes i still feel "pleasantly plump".. but my clothes fit better & i'm in smaller sizes... so it's gotta be working.
Be healthy & forget about the # on the scale.. :)
