I started reading the book, "Out of my mind" by Sharon Draper. Just the first few pages sound a lot like Grace. The book is about a little girl in a wheelchair, who has CP and is non-verbal; but has alot of words in her brain.. I'm committed to read it by the end of the week.. you know it's one of those books that when you get started it's hard to put down.
Grace had a tough night as well, I know it's not her fault. :( which makes this post even sadder. And I think reading a book like this one, puts it out there that people/children who are non-verbal aren't stupid.. Grace is far from that.. She understands & I wonder when she's having these horrid gas pains in the middle of the night what she's saying internally.
It's not about me and sleep when she's having a hard time.. I pray though (and have been since day one) that we can get a resolution to it! We just spoke to her GI doctor last week .. I'm emailing him this am.
love,
~pattie
