I had a great conversation with a friend yesterday - the 5 days with Gary being in the hospital and it just being me and Grace, went exceptionally well. Granted, I had help with Grace.. my #tribe is the best ever. Last and this week, is the two weeks 'vacation' before Grace goes back to summer school, so her schedule had already been set with childcare providers, so being in that schedule routine just added to the success of the week.
That being said, Gary getting hurt unexpectedly did put a wrench into 'everything else' that has to get done on a daily and weekly basis. However, when given a situation such as this I think women, in particular (from those I have spoken to), "Just do it!" By the time Saturday came around, Grace and I were doing 'household' stuff together and I really felt no stress with doing it myself.
Trust me it's no easy feat, but once I got the attitude to "just do it'.. then it was easier. Filled garbage bags going outside, pool filter on daily, all of Grace's meds daily for her, dinners together (when I wasn't at the hospital), cleaning up, laundry daily (a little bit a day saves up so it's not all being done on the weekend).
So, now that Gary is home.. downstairs because he isn't able to climb stairs yet.. I'll get alot of steps going up/down.. I'll try & be the best 'nurse' I can.. but I AM an administrative assistant not a nurse :)
I guess this is the 'for worse' part in a marriage..
I'll update in a few days! (if i can!)
