So, of course I do! And one of them is weekly grocery shopping.. regardless sometimes if we need it... feels like a natural thing to do.. "gotta go grocery shopping!"
So, I'm naming November - EAT FROM FREEZER & PANTRY MONTH, verse just 1 week.. we have alot of groceries.. we got our misfits box last week & still have veggies leftover - and apples, a little fruit... why should we go grocery shopping just because? NO , I say.. we are not.. (but I will still put in the $60/week budgeted grocery money in the envelope), that money will build up (of course my H will have to get his half and half, and I usually buy 2 creamers at a time, but they didn't have any..so eventually this month they will and we'll get two..) So.. yes, we'll go to the grocery store for a few little things here & there..but no ALDI haul's for the month.. sorry you won't be seeing the videos! But there are other video's.. go and check them out on my Get Personal Pattie You Tube Channel!
It feels so good to do a weekly check in with your freezer and pantry.. we don't have tons of storage in this house ..but the same I don't want to have tons of boxed or canned food around to never eat it. Weekly we spend about $60..and it's really the 2 of us (& Grace, who eats snacky & is trying new foods daily).. I think it takes a little creative planning on things to eat - but if you think about it.. for my family, my H & I do our seperate breakfast routines m-f.. we bought some burrito's from BJ's last time we went..that's a quick microwave meal for the morning (protein filled & very tasty); lunch-we figure it out ourselves (which TRUST me was never like that.. I used to make him lunch, don't get me wrong.. I don't mind throwing a leftover in a container for him for lunch if I got a minute) - but I got alot to do in the morning too, getting Grace up & her stuff for school together. So, it's really dinner that puts pressure on us wives (or husbands) who's responsible to figure it out..
I do meal plan.. taking in what we have in the freezer & pantry - pasta once a week, shrimp or a fish, a meat & a chicken..and then one take out. On Sunday I like to prepare a crockpot meal and/or something a little 'bigger' to have leftovers for the first day of the week.. Meal Planning is everything.. it really is an eye opener to what you have on hand.. don't get caught up in that "i gotta go grocery shopping, it's saturday" routine.. especially if you have a freezer/pantry filled!
This week's picture is from my #LRP #LIVERICHPLANNER by #THEBUDGETMOM - dinner ideas for the week includes, shrimp dish, pasta with meatballs, steak, chicken thighs or breasts & eggplant.. yup everything i have on hand.. no grocery shopping for me!
Have a good week!
