That's why we have them, right? To use in case of an emergency..but same may argue, what constitutes as an emergency. I say, when you need it & don't want to use your credit card.. then it's an emergency.
Last Month, we put $500 on my credit card.. I was this (fore finger to thumb) close in paying my credit card off..but you know what I needed to use it so I did. And I'm the first to say I'm not making all these efforts to pay down my debt only to have it back up again..so my focus in June is to pay ALL the extra's on my credit card; and of course to make sure that $500 (car repairs, a blown out tire from our trip & gas for our trip) gets paid all off in June. #1 goal for June..
But then we realized we needed all 4 new tires on this vehicle, not just one.. so I dug into my emergency fund and used $500 from that.. that's what it is for! For me, I save a little each paycheck toward that EF, and I will continue to do that..but right now, I'd rather see the $500 tire bill paid in full then putting it on a credit card.
The good thing is, we are entering a new month.. new month, new goals.. new planning (both personally & financially for me.. a small amount of professional)..
Happy June!
