I've said it before and probably will say it many more times after this.. It's special for a Mom to do things with her daughter! And being a parent of a child with special abilities, you wonder if that'll ever happen... don't get me wrong, I have certainly been out alone with Grace (especially last year, when my husband got hurt & was laid up for 4 months).. But going to a celebration where 'ladies only' are invited.. mom's everywhere want to do that with their daughters.
So, about a month ago I got an invite for a wedding shower.. I haven't been to a wedding shower in a few years and never with Grace. From the moment I got the invite, I knew this was something I wanted me & Grace to do together. It's not like I worried about it, but I certainly prayed hard when I got her in the car yesterday.. "please God, no poop explosions!" I'm sure when Mom's dress alike and take their young daughters to 'ladies only' events, they are definitely not thinking "no poop explosions please!' (they'll be another post at the end of this week of all the things Grace did in March and all the new things she's learning).
Well, there were no poop explosions.. just pure, JOY! My heart was filled with Joy.. I brought Grace's walker & she got to walk from car to the event hall.. and then she walked around the hall to see little girls & a boy that were welcoming and they said "hi, grace!" to her. Her tia & Auntie Tanya were showering her with love and a few of the 'ladies' were telling her how beautiful she was. She sat like a big girl watching everything around her with curious and happy eyes... as much as I sat near her smiling from my heart!
It was an awesome day.. and a wonderful Mom & Daughter day.. I'll cherish! Time to get her out there for more!
:)
