And if the last post wasn't great for you to read.. Read on!
As a child, I remember my parents (of Portuguese decent) hosting the "Holy Ghost" crown yearly in our home. Sadly, sometimes it was questionable why our family was chosen to have the crown in our home as it always seem to bring the worst out in my dad! (I still love him, he did the best he could with how he was raised... and I have totally forgiven; and honestly now that both my parents are gone, I miss them terribly..for myself & their relationship with Grace).
Anyway, we try to attend church (catholic) with Grace (she loves the music) but it has certainly been awhile. Last week, we had the Holy Ghost crown in our home for the week and this past Sunday (May 1st), we celebrated by taking it back to church.
Grace was very excited to be going to church and was awesome! She walked up the aisle in her walker; she sat in the pew by herself, (vs. the last time a year ago, bouncing from my lap to me holding her); stood up by herself. Even gave Fr. Jeremy a fist bump at the end. Grace was blessed with the crown at the end of mass! We all need extra blessings, don't we.
I go back and forth yearly about wanting to keep this tradition in our home. Let's face it, it's one week out of the year... I think we can dedicate our home to the Holy Spirit & Tradition. And to watch Grace continue to grow with the crown and tradition makes my dad proud.. I'm sure!
